Arts Education And Literacy

The Need

The need we see for arts education is far more than training students to be strong artists but training students to be effective members of society. We learn teamwork, self regulation, taking feedback and a litany of other skills needed for everyday life.

Our Plan

The Ambry Library is working to develop a curriculum for grade school students to develop artistic skills as well as take part in the social-emotional learning that comes along with arts education. This can be accomplished through after-school and in-school programs developed and taught by local professionals.

Arts education is important for students, especially in out-of-school time, because it offers a range of benefits that can contribute to their overall development and success. There is a long list of benefits to which the Arts contribute.  My favorite benefit is overall enriched experiences for youth. Arts education enriches students' experiences by exposing them to different forms of artistic expression and cultural perspectives. This exposure can broaden their horizons and foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the world around them.
